This website takes you to the Ayoreita mine in South America, in the heart of the eastern Bolivian Amazon, 14 kilometres from the Brazilian border. The nearest town is Rincón del Tigre, 55 kilometres away. The mining area is known locally as los Cerros del Cristal (The Crystal Hills). They are outcrops of dolomitic limestone with hydrothermal quartz veins running north-south. The concession covers an area of 1,900 ha. The mine yields Ametrine, amethyst crystals and rock crystal.
